Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a hearing test take?
A comprehensive hearing evaluation typically takes 45 to 60 minutes. This includes time for case history, testing, and discussing results and recommendations.
Do I need a referral to see an audiologist?
In most cases, no referral is needed. You can call us directly to schedule. However, some insurance plans require a referral, so we recommend checking with your provider.
At what age does AuDSLP see children?
AuDSLP sees kids ages 5 through the teenage years. We recommend a hearing check at ages 5, 6, 8, and 10, and at any point a parent, teacher, or pediatrician raises concerns about hearing, attention in noise, reading, or speech-language development.
How much do hearing aids cost?
Hearing aid costs vary based on technology level, style, and features. We offer multiple price points and CareCredit financing. Many insurance plans provide hearing aid benefits. Contact us to discuss your options.
How often should adults have their hearing checked?
Adults should have a baseline hearing test by age 50 and annual evaluations after that. Those with noise exposure, family history of hearing loss, or any hearing concerns should be tested sooner.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring your photo ID, insurance card, a list of current medications, any relevant medical records or referrals, and a list of questions or concerns about your hearing.
